Does your family celebrate Thanksgiving, Eid al-Adha, Diwali, Christmas, Chanukah, Mawlid-al-Nabi, Chinese New Year, Kwaanza, or any other special holiday? Do you have any photos of your child(ren) engaging in family traditions? We would love to showcase your traditions on our TRES Pride bulletin board. #TRESPride Community Building Concert

TRES students and staff will be participating in our first whole school community building activity on the morning of Dec. 21st! We will be joined by Dr. TRESler’s favorite children’s singer/songwriter, Mr. Tony! Mr. Tony performed at TRES last school year for one of our cultural arts assemblies, and he is returning to give us a FREE concert! Mr. Tony is collaborating with the TRES music team and staff to include as many staff and students as possible.

The TRES community has adopted two Howard County families in need and is collecting simple Christmas gifts for them through the Holiday Angel Tree program. TRES PTA outreach committee is partnering with FQMS Leo Club to support this program.

Got Empty Inkjet and Toner Cartridges?

TRES is collecting cartridges to recycle and raise funds for our school. The cartridges can come from home, work, friends or neighbors. Cartridges should be placed in a zip lock bag or wrapped in cellophane to prevent leakage. There is is box inside the front doors for drop off. Thank you for helping to protect the environment while raising funds for TRES!

Little Free Library Opens at TRES on Dec. 3rd!

TRES was gifted with a donation of a Little Free Library! You may have noticed it out front of the building beside the bench (in the white gravel). This week, Ms. Royo has been teaching students all about how a community uses and takes care of its Little Free Library.

Hour of Code is coming!

We live in a world surrounded by technology. We know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly hinge on understanding how technology works. But only a tiny fraction of us are learning computer science, and fewer students are studying it than a decade ago. That’s why next week students are learning about coding.

Inclusive School Week at TRES

Inclusive School Week is a national campaign that recognizes the meaningful inclusion of students with disabilities in academics, athletics, clubs, and all facets of our school community. While we recognize the importance of inclusion across gender, race, ethnicity, and culture, this particular campaign will focus primarily on celebrating the abilities of all students. To celebrate this campaign at TRES we will be creating a display in the entrance of our school lobby. This display will include our Slogan Bumper Sticker Contest as well as our Pledge to Be Inclusive.

Memory Book Cover Contest- Winners Announced

Thank you to all of the students who submitted art for the 2018-2019 TRES 20th Anniversary Yearbook. This year’s theme is Celebrating 20 Pawsome Years! The front cover is designed by Sanjit Bhatia in 3rd grade. Congratulations, Sanjit! The following student’s art will be featured on the back cover: Palmer Grove (1st grade), Zoya Bahrian (4th grade), Sarina Bhatia (kindergarten), Dolan Eacker (2nd grade), and Charlotte Holcombe (kindergarten).

Assessment Update for Grades 3 & 5 December 2018

This year, the Howard County Public School System will be administering the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) to all students in Grades 3 and 5. The CogAT is a group-administered abilities test that measures students’ reasoning abilities which they develop through in-school and out-of-school experiences. It is not designed to test a student’s academic achievement, but their potential. The test is made of three batteries – Verbal, Quantitative, and Nonverbal. Each battery takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
