Dear Retriever Families,
What an incredible and energizing pre-service week it has been! Our dedicated staff has worked extremely hard over the past few days—engaging in professional learning, setting up vibrant classrooms, planning collaboratively, and finalizing our first-day procedures. Their dedication has set the stage for an extraordinary year, and we are all thrilled to welcome our students back to the building this Monday!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our events this week, including Back to School Night, the Kindergarten Picnic, New Family Orientation, and Open House. Every event was fantastically attended, and it was a true highlight of our week to meet so many wonderful students, parents, and guardians across our community.
I hope everyone takes time this weekend to relax, recharge, and rest up for a fantastic first full week of school. Welcome back, Retrievers!

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
We appreciate your patience during the first week of school as we establish our arrival and dismissal routines. A safe and smooth arrival and dismissal process is our priority, and it is imperative that we work together toward this end! The biggest way you can help us is to ensure that your child’s teacher knows how they are getting home the first day of school and what their regular dismissal process will be. If you have not yet shared this information, please email your child's teacher.
Each bus rider's backpack will be tagged with their bus number at arrival Monday to ensure they are dismissing to their correct bus. Our car loop procedures are outlined below. The dismissal process does become much faster after the first few weeks of school.
Car Loop Procedures and Important Safety Reminders:
- Refrain from entering the lower lot that is designated for school buses.
- Do not make left turns in or out of the car loop during arrival or dismissal.
- Pull forward until you arrive at the top of our drop-off/pick-up zone or close to the vehicle in front of you.
- Stay alert and drive slowly.
- There is no TRES staff supervision prior to 9:00 a.m. All children should remain in the vehicles until a staff member arrives on duty. Note that we may start a few minutes early the first week of school.
- Please follow the directions of staff.
- Stay in your vehicle at all times. Exiting the car can create unsafe conditions for everyone.
- Please have your child exit and enter your vehicle from the passenger side. This is the safest way for your child to be dropped off and ensure they will never cross between cars.
- Stay in line and do not pass other cars - never bypass the line.
- Do not not park and leave your vehicle in the car loop.
- Dismissal begins at 3:40 p.m.
- Drivers please display the car loop sign from your rear view mirror. Ensure that your child’s name is written using large, bold and clear text.
Student Late Arrivals and Early Dismissals
Students should be in their classes for attendance when the second school bell rings in the morning at 9:15 a.m. After this time they are considered a late arrival, and a parent or guardian must accompany them into the front office to sign them in for the school day. Similarly, if a parent is requesting early dismissal for their student, they must sign them out in the front office. Please note that no late dismissals can be accommodated past 3:15 p.m. Changes in student dismissal must also be communicated by this time. New HCPSS Guidelines:
Parent Drop-Off of Student Materials
Parents dropping off any student materials/lunches during the school day are asked to ensure the materials are clearly labeled with their student’s name and homeroom teacher. When dropping off, please ring the bell to advise front office staff you are leaving the item on the drop off table in the vestibule which will be to your right. Staff will collect the items and ensure the student receives them.
Parent Lunch Visits
As communicated by HCPSS in their latest newsletter this past Wednesday, parent lunch visits are no longer permitted at any HCPSS school. Limiting access during the school day ensures safe and secure school communities by removing unnecessary access to students and school buildings, reducing disruptions, supporting student routines, and minimizing non-essential traffic in student areas. Parents are encouraged to communicate with school staff to stay engaged in their child's learning and seek opportunities to volunteer in an official capacity at the school.
Update Your Student/Family Emergency Information Today!
HCPSS utilizes Family File for families to complete emergency information. Parents/guardians can now access and complete Family File by logging in to HCPSS Connect, selecting Online Registration/Family File at the top right of the page and then selecting Family File Verification. Parents/guardians must verify and/or update information for each child each school year.
Health Room Reminder: Medication Drop-Off & Required Forms
If your child needs to take medication during the school day, please remember all medications must be dropped off directly to the Health Room. They will be open to receive medications beginning August 19th, between the hours of 9am - 3:30pm. Students may not carry any medications themselves, including over-the-counter medications. All medications must be accompanied by the appropriate completed medication form (linked below) and which is also available in the Health Room. Required medical forms, medication order forms (including Epi Pen order form) and the HCPSS Taking Medication at School information can be found on the following HCPSS websites:

You Must Opt In to Receive HCPSS and TRES Text Messages
HCPSS and schools regularly send text messages for items of timely importance. To comply with wireless carrier requirements, parents/guardians must opt into receiving HCPSS and school text message alerts. Standard data fees and text messaging rates may apply based on your mobile plan. If you are unsure if you have already opted in, text the word “YES” to 67587 from the cell phone number on file in HCPSS Connect.

The TRES Daily Schedule including arrival and dismissal times, and lunch/recess times for all grades, can be found on our school website under the “ABOUT” tab.
Volunteer/Visitor Training Required Every Year
THIS TRAINING MUST BE COMPLETED EVERY YEAR (no paperwork required). Anyone volunteering at school in any capacity is required to complete volunteer training prior to their first visit. Thank you in advance for your gifts of service and time.

Girls on the Run® inspires participants in grades 3–5 to be joyful, healthy, and confident through evidence-based lessons that combine relationship building, community strengthening, goal setting, and physical movement. See flier attached below.
Triadelphia Ridge ES will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45–5:00 p.m., beginning September 15. The season-ending Howard County Celebration 5K will be held the morning of Saturday, November 21, 2026.

TRES is Hiring Lunch/Recess Monitors
We are looking for individuals who would like to work a few hours every day supervising students during recess and lunch shifts this school year. Applicants should be flexible, caring, and dedicated to student safety and care.
Start Date: August 24, 2026
Hours: 10:45 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. (3 hours per day)
Daily Pay Rate: $16.00/hr
