Message from Dr. TRESler and Mr. Hiel:
Dear Retriever Families,
Due to school being closed on November 29th for the Thanksgiving holiday, our next Retriever Report will be sent out on Monday, December 1st.
We do not have a Bridge to Home Zones of Regulation resource to share with you this week, as teachers and students will use the next two weeks to revisit and reinforce the first three concepts. We will share information as we begin concept 4 on December 1st.
Since parent conferences are with homeroom teachers in November, February conferences will be with math teachers. You may have some questions about how to help your child in math or what your child is learning in math. Did you know that HCPSS has an online Family Math Support Center? It’s full of resources about what your child is learning and how you can support your child with their math learning at home. We encourage you to check it out.
We continue to be thankful to be a part of such a wonderful school community!
Warm Regards,
Dr. Tiffany TRESler, Principal
Kory Hiel, Assistant Principal

Weather Guidelines / Recess
With the approaching colder weather, please make sure students wear clothing appropriate for forecasted conditions. Generally, students will be outside for recess when the temperature combined with the wind chill is not less than 20 degrees Fahrenheit or the heat index reading is less than 95 degrees. The decision to go out or stay in for recess is the decision of the administrator at individual schools. On rare occasions due to extreme weather, a decision may be made at the school system level. The following factors are considered in determining if recess is to be held outside:
- Temperature and humidity
- Wind chill
- Heat index and air quality
- Age of students
- Length of time outdoors
- Adequacy of the children’s clothing
- Condition of the playground
- Falling precipitation (more than a sprinkle or mist)
- Thunder and lightning
Children with certain health conditions may need special accommodations during extremely hot or cold weather. Parents of those children should provide medical documentation and may be consulted to determine if other arrangements are necessary.
