Last day of school - Friday, June 8, 2012
The State Board of Education approved Superintendent Sydney Cousin's request for a wavier of the 180-day school year requirement for students.  As a result, Howard County schools will not have to make-up August 29, 2011, when schools were closed for hurricane conditions.  As always, schools will close three hours early on the last three days of school.

We are working on creating a directory of parents and community members as resources for the STEM committee at Triadelphia Ridge Elementary. STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. If you have background knowledge or a career in any topics involved in STEM we would like to
have you as a resource for the committee. Please visit our website to be added to our directory at http://tinyurl.com/7yu2fdu

Did you know that since 2002, TRES has been designated as a Green School by the Maryland Association of Environmental and Outdoor Education? Are you interested in supporting our efforts to continue this legacy?  TRES families have a chance to promote wholesome, waste-free lunches AND helping to support a fundraiser for TRES?  Visit the Laptop Lunches webpage for more information.  This page can be accessed at: http://www.laptoplunches.com/?affid=88

The Laptop Lunches website offers lots of waste free lunchbox options that can be purchased directly online with TRES receiving 10% of the generated revenues.  Laptop Lunches was developed by two mothers with a passion for helping families improve lunchtime nutrition and reduce waste. Modeled after the traditional style Japanese bento box, Laptop Lunches offers a colorful, compartmentalized way of packing a healthy, sustainable lunch for you or your child. The website also offers lots of fun menu ideas and recipes for healthy living.  If you are thinking of purchasing a new lunch box for your child for the 2012-2013 school year, checkout these fun and “green” options.

Take The Waste-Free Challenge!  Every school day TRES students fill about 6 barrels of trash in the cafeteria.  The TRES fourth grade Enviro-Kids would like to reduce this amount by challenging TRES students who bring lunches from home to pack a waste-free lunch on each Wednesday throughout the remainder of the school year. This is a voluntary challenge and can be accomplished by using reusable containers for sandwiches, snacks, drinks, etc.  We are a Green School. Let’s make TRES even GREENER and more Earth Friendly
