Retriever Report September 16, 2022

Fri, 09/16/2022 - 1:07pm

Message from Dr. TRESler and Mrs. Moraff:

Dear Retriever Families,

It was great to see all of you at the back to school night events this week! We enjoyed getting the opportunity to connect with our parents again, and we hope that you are looking forward to the school year. As promised, here is the link to view the brief related arts and admin presentation.

As fall weather approaches, please remember to label your child’s jackets and coats with their names. Our lost and found is already growing and the name labels are a huge help in reuniting lost items with their owners. The cooler mornings and warm afternoon recesses often leave us with many discarded jackets on the playground.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you at the Retriever Rally on September 30th! It’s one of our favorite events of the year!

Warmly,
Dr. Tiffany TRESler, Principal TRES
Mrs. Heather Moraff, Assistant Principal TRES

MAP Testing

Students in grades 1-5 will take the Measured Academic Progress (MAP) assessment during the months of September and October. The data from the MAP assessment will help schools and teachers measure your student’s academic progress. The MAP test does not affect grades and the difficulty adjusts depending on how your child responds. It is normal for students to only answer about half the questions correctly.  Learn more about the MAP assessment HERE

Specific testing dates can be found on the school's website calendar.  There is no preparation needed for MAP testing.  We ask that you encourage your child to get a good night's sleep prior to their test dates and have a hearty breakfast in the morning. If you have any questions regarding MAP testing, please reach out to Mrs. Moraff, Assistant Principal and Testing Coordinator at heather_moraff@hcpss.org.

IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO, PLEASE COMPLETE YOUR STUDENT(S) FAMILY FILE ASAP

Every year HCPSS parents must complete a Family File for each child. HCPSS utilizes Family File for parents/guardians to complete emergency information. Parents/guardians must verify and/or update information for each child, and can do so by logging in to HCPSS Connect and selecting the MORE OPTIONS tab on the left and then clicking on Family File.
