Dear Retriever Families,
There is always so much to celebrate at TRES! For this message, I would like to highlight some of our staff and community members who are invaluable to school and students.
First, last week, April 1st - 5th, was National Assistant Principal Week. I would like to thank our amazing assistant principal, Kory Hiel, for all that he does to support our entire school community! Being both new to TRES and new to the position, Mr. Hiel has shown to be a great addition to our leadership and staff team! We would also like to congratulate Mr. Hiel and his family on the birth of their son. After taking some time off to welcome his son home, Mr. Hiel hopes to return to TRES on April 22nd.
Next week, April 21st - 27th, is Partnerships in Education and School Volunteer Week. Our parent and PTA volunteers help us provide rich and well-rounded experiences for our students. Chaperoning field trips, field day, TREaSure Ticket prize cart, Walking Wednesday, evening family events, classroom and clerical help are just some ways that our volunteers help us throughout the year. We are thankful for all of our parent volunteers.
Last, our evening custodial team would like to thank all of the parents who help to clean up after school and PTA events. Your teamwork greatly helps them to ensure that our building is ready for students and staff for the next school day.
I’m grateful to be a part of our supportive school community!
Warmly,
Dr. Tiffany TRESler, Principal

Bus Transportation Registration Open for 24-25 School Year
Parents/guardians whose children are eligible for bus transportation are asked to register to receive bus service each year to help the school system plan for student transportation needs. The transportation registration process is now open through May 31, and will be completed online via HCPSS Connect Synergy. Registration must be done for each eligible child.
You do not need to take any action if your child receives transportation as part of their Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan.
Details on bus transportation registration, including a guide to register and scenarios families may see when registering, can be found online.
MSDE Parent Survey
Parents of students with IEPs, please take time to complete the MSDE Parent Survey (please disregard if you have already completed). This survey provides HCPSS information about how well we are partnering with you and promoting parent involvement. Your feedback will help guide efforts to improve special education and related services in HCPSS. Please access the survey using this Link.
Parent Consideration Form; Complete by May 3rd
A separate school message was sent Wednesday, April 10th, regarding Parent Consideration Forms. Please refer to that email for guidance and link to the form, which must be completed by May 3rd. Teachers will begin working on placing students in groupings for classes for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year in May. This consideration form is for you, as parents, to relay specific information about your child that you feel would be beneficial as our teachers meet to determine next year's placements. Class placement changes after class lists are finalized are extremely difficult and often cannot be accommodated. Other than newly enrolled students, class lists will be finalized in June 2024.
Last Day of School Scheduled
HCPSS used three inclement weather days this school year, and as such, the last day of school for students in full-day Pre-K through grade 11 is now scheduled to be Friday, June 14, with June 12-14 being three-hour early dismissals.
Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten Registration for 2024-2025 School Year
Kindergarten Registration for the 2024-2025 school year is underway. Children must be 5 years old by September 1, 2024 in order to enroll in kindergarten. HCPSS prekindergarten students do not need to register for kindergarten.
PreKindergarten Registration for the 2024-2025 school year is also underway. Children must be 4 years old by September 1, 2024 in order to enroll in prekindergarten. Anyone wishing to register must first complete an application that the HCPSS Early Childhood Office reviews for qualification. You can review more information about eligibility on the HCPSS website.
Please visit the TRES Website and click on the front page link to learn more about enrolling for the fall.
Training Required for Volunteers and Visitors
Anyone volunteering at school in any capacity, and parents joining their children for lunch, are required to complete volunteer training prior to their first visit. Please visit HERE for more information. Thank you in advance for your gifts of service and time.
Thank you to Aida Klement and Kim Eggborn for chairing TRES' first Financial Fun Night in March where students learned about financial responsibility through fun activities!
Upcoming PTA Events:
Volunteers Needed for Walking Wednesday
Walking Wednesdays is a PTA-sponsored walking/running program that gets our K-5th graders' hearts beating faster as they run/walk for prizes during recess. This is 100% volunteer led and a great opportunity to encourage our children to be active as well as set goals and meet them. Please sign up HERE. Thank you for your support!
The HCPSS Community News and Programs website makes it easy for families to find educational and recreational resources, events and after-school programs beyond the school day by non-profit organizations. Community organizations requesting their announcements be shared in school newsletters should visit community-programs.hcpss.org for more information. Questions should be directed to the Public Information Office at publicinfo@hcpss.org.
