Message from Dr. TRESler and Mrs. Moraff:

Dear Retriever Families,

We were thrilled to welcome TRES staff to the 2022-2023 school year yesterday! All of us would like to thank our wonderful PTA for providing a delicious hot breakfast to start our day, along with drinks and snacks to sustain us during our professional learning! We celebrated our many new staff members and participated in a fun team-building activity. Everyone brought excitement and hope for the new school year. We will be very busy over the next week preparing for our new family welcome event (read more below), open houses (schedules below), the first day of school, and beyond.

We would like to thank our teacher leaders who worked this summer on our school improvement plans in the areas of math, literacy, and school climate, our professional development plan, and our PBIS practices. We spent many hours analyzing academic and behavioral school data, student focus group responses, responses from the May equity survey, and more as part of a comprehensive needs assessment. We look forward to opportunities this year to share more about our work with the community.

Another shout out goes to our Principal’s Secretary, Ms. Carolyn Toland! She has worked all summer, getting everything organized for a new year and keeping the front office open to serve our community!  Lastly, thank you to the many HCPSS substitute custodians who worked so hard to clean our building and put together furniture over the summer. Our Night Custodial Chief, Ms. Paula Jones, and our new night custodian, Mr. Dennis Owusu, joined us mid-summer and they have been invaluable members of our staff community! By mid-September our new Day Chief and an additional night custodian will be joining the team.

We can’t wait to have the halls filled with our TREaSured Retrievers again soon! Have a joyful last week of summer vacation!

Warmly,
Dr. Tiffany TRESler, Principal TRES
Mrs. Heather Moraff, Assistant Principal TRES

News and Information

PLEASE COMPLETE YOUR STUDENT(S) FAMILY FILE ASAP- We still need 55% of our families to complete!

The 2022-2023 Family File is now available to parents. HCPSS requires that your Family File is completed BEFORE you can see your child’s teacher in Canvas.

Only families who have completed the Family File will be able to see their student(s) home room teacher next week on August 24th beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Every year HCPSS parents must complete a Family File for each child. HCPSS utilizes Family File for parents/guardians to complete emergency information. Parents/guardians must verify and/or update information for each child, and can do so by logging in to HCPSS Connect PARENT ACCOUNT and selecting the MORE OPTIONS tab on the left and then clicking on Family File.

Once logged in, you will be asked to update or provide the following information:

  •  Student Information
  •  Parent/Guardian Contact
  •  Emergency Contacts
  •  Medical Information
  •  Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
  •  Photo Approval/Data Confidentiality
  •  PTA/PTSA Directory Approval

Again, it is imperative that you complete the Family File in order to receive the name of your child's teacher for the upcoming school year.

Food Services Information

The federal government has NOT extended waivers allowing free meals for all students this year.  It is important to apply for Free and Reduced Meals if you qualify.  If you do not qualify for this program, breakfast will be $2.00 and lunch will be $2.80.  A Free and Reduced Meals application is REQUIRED to qualify.  Apply HERE.

If you do not qualify for free and reduced meals, please consider registering for MySchoolBucks. MySchoolBucks allows parents and guardians to pay for school meals securely online and also allows parents to view account activity and receive balance alerts. You may already have an account with MySchoolBucks.  If this is the case, you can log in, view your account, and ensure that your child has money on their account for school meals prior to the start of the school year.

Transportation

The HCPSS bus locator application is now available online. Due to a severe driver shortage, many bus routes/stops are expected to change. Please recheck your child’s transportation prior to the start of school.

Student Accident Insurance

Student voluntary accident coverage information and enrollment is available HERE.  If you would like a printed enrollment form, please call the front office.

Clothing to Cash Recycling Program

Clean out your closet and help our school raise money! Look for the large white recycling bin in the school parking lot to donate used clothing, footwear, textiles and accessories which must be bagged and tied.  TRES is paid for every pound we collect.  All items will be reworn, repurposed or finally recycled.
