Retriever Report August 8, 2022

Mon, 08/08/2022 - 1:54pm

Message from Dr. TRESler and Mrs. Moraff:

Dear Retriever Families,

First, a big WELCOME to all of our new families and students! We can’t wait to meet you! We hope that you can join us next week for our Picnic on the Playground with our neighbors, Folly Quarter Middle School. You can read more about it below in this newsletter. We also have a number of back to school events planned.

Our TRES website homepage has links to important information including the supply lists for students. You can also purchase all of your school supplies prepackaged from School Tool Box, sponsored by TRES PTA.

In addition to our new families, we are welcoming more than 20 new staff members to TRES! The additional staff is mostly due to the growth in enrollment and an increase in staff to support students, such as an additional .5 school counselor and G/T teacher! We also said goodbye to some staff members who were provided with opportunities to begin a new journey, such as moving to a new state, staying home with a new baby, and teaching in a high school. You can read more about our staff changes below.

If you or someone you know is interested in making a difference in the Howard County community, consider applying for a job with HCPSS! There are two upcoming job fairs and many types of positions available! At TRES specifically, we are looking for a lunch/recess monitor, and a substitute lunch/recess monitor. Please email Mrs. Moraff (heather_moraff@hcpss.org) if you are interested in one of these positions. She can tell you more about the positions and how to apply on-line.

We hope that you enjoy the rest of your summer, and we are excited for the first day of school on August 29th, 2022!

Warmly,
Dr. Tiffany TRESler, Principal TRES
Mrs. Heather Moraff, Assistant Principal TRES

News and Information

PLEASE COMPLETE YOUR STUDENT(S) FAMILY FILE ASAP

The 2022-2023 Family File is now available to parents. HCPSS requires that your Family File is completed BEFORE you can see your child’s teacher in Canvas (during orientation week).

Only families who have completed the Family File will be able to see their student(s) home room teacher during orientation week.

Every year HCPSS parents must complete a Family File for each child. HCPSS utilizes Family File for parents/guardians to complete emergency information. Parents/guardians must verify and/or update information for each child, and can do so by logging in to HCPSS Connect PARENT ACCOUNT and selecting the MORE OPTIONS tab on the left and then clicking on Family File.

Once logged in, you will be asked to update or provide the following information:

  •  Student Information
  •  Parent/Guardian Contact
  •  Emergency Contacts
  •  Medical Information
  •  Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
  •  Photo Approval/Data Confidentiality
  •  PTA/PTSA Directory Approval

Again, it is imperative that you complete the Family File in order to receive the name of your child's teacher for the upcoming school year.
