Retriever Report September 2, 2022

Message from Dr. TRESler and Mrs. Moraff:

Dear Retriever Families,

It has been a great first week at TRES! One of the highlights of the week was TREaSure dancing at our PBIS pep rallies on Wednesday! The pep rallies are a great way for us to begin to build school community and pride at the start of the year. During our celebrations, we also reviewed our TREaSure Traits of respect, responsibility, integrity, and care. We encourage you to talk with your child about the traits and how they are shown at school.

Next week we will visit grade-level teams to discuss the HCPSS Student Code of Conduct  and specific policies in developmentally appropriate child-friendly ways. The HCPSS Student Code of Conduct provides a framework to support behavioral goals and disciplinary policies. While students are expected to be aware of and abide by this code, we all play a part in ensuring our school is a safe place where students can learn. We look to partner with our families to support the social-emotional skill development of our students.  At TRES, we implement programs such as PBIS to help teach and reinforce school-appropriate behaviors and build community among our students and staff. We thank you in advance for your partnership to create a safe learning environment for everyone.

Warmly,
Dr. Tiffany TRESler, Principal TRES
Mrs. Heather Moraff, Assistant Principal TRES

News and Information

PLEASE COMPLETE YOUR STUDENT(S) FAMILY FILE ASAP- We still need 19% of our families to complete!

Every year HCPSS parents must complete a Family File for each child. HCPSS utilizes Family File for parents/guardians to complete emergency information. Parents/guardians must verify and/or update information for each child, and can do so by logging in to HCPSS Connect PARENT ACCOUNT and selecting the MORE OPTIONS tab on the left and then clicking on Family File.

Once logged in, you will be asked to update or provide the following information:

  •  Student Information
  •  Parent/Guardian Contact
  •  Emergency Contacts
  •  Medical Information
  •  Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
  •  Photo Approval/Data Confidentiality
  •  PTA/PTSA Directory Approval

Again, it is imperative that you complete the Family File in order to receive the name of your child's teacher for the upcoming school year.

When Your Child is Absent From School

Excuses for absences from school are required by Maryland law. Please email tresabsence@hcpss.org if your student is absent. You must include your child’s first and last name, the date of absence, and the reason for absence. Please do not email CANVAS for absences.

If your student is dismissing early, please send a separate note to the homeroom teacher with your child in the morning.

Volunteer Training Required

Anyone volunteering at school in any capacity is required to complete volunteer training prior to their first visit.  Please visit HERE for more information.  Thank you in advance for your gifts of service and time.

Food Services Information

The federal government has NOT extended waivers allowing free meals for all students this year.  It is important to apply for Free and Reduced Meals if you qualify.  If you do not qualify for this program, breakfast will be $2.00 and lunch will be $2.80.  A Free and Reduced Meals application is REQUIRED to qualify.  Apply HERE.

If you do not qualify for free and reduced meals, please consider registering for MySchoolBucks. MySchoolBucks allows parents and guardians to pay for school meals securely online and also allows parents to view account activity and receive balance alerts. You may already have an account with MySchoolBucks.  If this is the case, you can log in, view your account, and ensure that your child has money on their account for school meals prior to the start of the school year.

TRES PTA

Volunteers Needed for Walking Wednesday

Walking Wednesdays is a PTA and volunteer-sponsored walking/running program that gets our kiddo’s hearts beating faster as they run/walk for prizes during recess. This is 100% Volunteer led and a great opportunity to encourage our children to be active as well as set goals and meet them. Please sign up HERE.  If you’re signing up before 9/14, please limit yourself to two slots to allow others the opportunity to volunteer. Thank you for your support!

PTA Membership Drive

Please visit the PTA table at back-to-school nights to join the PTA and get a set of TRES vinyl stickers! Joining the PTA supports student-centered events, field trips, teacher appreciation and much more! Joining does not require any time commitment on your part.
