Cross Age Buddies- New to TRES to support our school goals of belonging and our Caring School Community!

Tue, 09/17/2019 - 3:44pm

To align our PBIS practices with our beliefs around the importance of student feelings of belonging and restorative justice in education philosophy we will be implementing cross age buddies during our TREaSured Day Celebrations. All students will be included, and we will be using the cross age buddies activities included in the Caring School Community resources when our student buddies meet monthly.

Our student buddies will meet for the first time on September 20th and begin with a “getting to know one another” activity. During the first TREaSured Day on September 27th, student buddies will meet to develop a buddies poster. We encourage you to ask your child about his/her buddy on September 20th. Kindergarten is paired with third grade, first grade is paired with fourth grade, and second grade is paired with fifth grade. We hope and expect that your child will get a lot out of the experience. The buddies program provides an excellent opportunity for older children to be caring helpers, teachers, and friends. Younger children benefit from having a role model and a special, older friend at school.

If you have any questions about the cross age buddies at TRES, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school counselor, Mrs. Berdeguez.
